Not all Democrats were offended by President Trump’s positive and awe-inspiring State Of The Union Address. A Democratic Congressman, from liberal haven Chicago of all places, indicated that Trump’s speech was a step in the right direction and he is ready to work with him.
This is a far cry from the reaction by Nancy Pelosi, who decided before the speech that she was going to hate it and continued that during and after the speech:
“Pelosi joined many congressional Democrats in sitting and withholding applause for most of Trump’s State of the Union on Tuesday night, despite the president’s calls for bipartisan unity.
“A number of Democrats booed and hissed during Trump’s speech after he discussed reforming “chain migration” as part of an immigration deal.”

But one Democrat was able to shed his ideological goggles and recognize President Trump for a job well done. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Ill.) was pleased with the speech and said he “willing to give Donald Trump some of the credit” for the great economy. But that’s not all. In an appearance with Fox News’ Neil Cavuto, Krishnamoorthi said he was optimistic about working with the president:
“Krishnamoorthi, who represents Schaumburg and Elgin, said he hopes both parties can work together in the wake of Trump’s speech.
“He also reacted to the new tax reform law and the bonuses companies have been awarding to workers in light of their new tax burden.
“Krishnamoorthi said he is happy to see companies giving bonuses, but hopes that those organizations will also reflect their tax savings in higher wages.
“He added that, in high-tax Illinois, many of his constituents are worried their personal tax liability will not change because Republicans removed the state and local tax (SALT) deduction.”
